Ashley Stripling, PhD Bio

Dr. Stripling is a licensed psychologist, associate professor and the Director of Nova Southeastern University’s Counseling Center for Older adults. Prior to NSU, Dr. Stripling served as Chief Intern in Psychology at the Bruce Carter VAMC in Miami, with a geropsychology specialization, and completed her postdoctoral fellowship in the Division of Geropsychiatry at the San Francisco VAMC. She has over fifteen years of experience conducting aging focused clinical research and providing psychological services across VA and University settings. As a result of her research involvement she has obtained several grants, as well as, authored or co-authored eighteen peer-reviewed articles, two book chapters, two web-based peer-reviewed publications, and over a hundred presentations at national conferences. Currently, she provides specialized didactic training as a HRSA grant funded subject matter expert for NSU’s Geriatric Workforce Enhancement Program and is collaborating on a series of grants with Dr. Emily Georgia Salivar examining an online couples program for older adults and with Dr. William Kochen to provide a dental health intervention for patients with Alzheimer’s disease. Her geropsychological interests span clinical, teaching, and advocacy; and she is particularly interested in avenues that promote healthy aging and geropsycholgoical training.
