Broward County Elderly & Veterans Services

The Aging and Disability Resource Center has designated Broward County Elderly & Veterans Services as Lead Agency for services in Broward County.

Focal Point Senior Centers

Broward's four Focal Point Senior Centers provide a full spectrum of services for elders. Some of these include: nutrition; arts and crafts; recreation; transportation; education classes; health screening and support; public education; referral; and counseling.

Satellite Senior Centers

Senior Day Care Centers

Senior Day Care Centers provide facility-based programs for frail elders who are able to reside at home and travel to other locales if supervision is available. Services are designed to meet the needs of physically-dependent seniors. Most listed day care centers also accept private pay consumers. Some funded programs assess co-payments for services. Donations are always welcome.

Alzheimer's Day Care Centers

Specialized day-care services are available for patients with medically-diagnosed Alzheimer's disease or related dementia. Four Alzheimer's Day Care Programs currently are funded by the ADRC. Co-payments are required and are assessed according to a sliding scale.

Home Touch

Home Touch provides carpentry, plumbing, electrical and other minor repairs necessary to preserve health and safety to clients 60 or older in owner occupied homes. Priority is given to low-income elderly. Financial and material donations are accepted. The Home Touch Program is administered by the Minority Builders Coalition, Inc.

Senior Citizen Law Project

The Senior Citizen Law Project offers legal advice and representation to Broward County residents, 60 years of age and older. Legal assistance is provided for: housing, health related issues; governmental benefits; consumer issues; and naturalization. Services are targeted to low income and minority persons.

Nutrition Assistance

South Florida Institute on Aging (SoFlA)

The South Florida Institute on Aging's mission is to improve economic and social insights and services to empower people as they age. SoFlA delivers innovative services such as technology training, purposeful volunteering, access to affordable housing, and caregiving. One such service is the Respite for Elders Living in Everyday Families (RELIEF) program.
